Create a hike page for participants

A hike page wraps everything a participant needs into a single link: the required kit list, hike info, instructions and any gear you personally recommend. When they open the link they can fork the required template into their own pack in one click.

What you need first

• A template pack with placeholders for every required item. If you haven't built one yet, follow the Create a template guide.
• A handle on your profile — set it in Settings. The public URL uses your handle: rightpacking.eu/hike/<your-handle>/<hike-slug>.

Create the page

1. Open Hikes in the top navigation and click New hike.
2. Fill in Title, optional Subtitle, Location and Dates. The URL slug is generated from the title; you can edit it.
3. Pick the Template pack the participants must fork. Only your own template packs appear here.
4. Write Instructions in Markdown — meeting point, pace, food plan, safety notes. Keep it short and scannable.
5. Set Visibility: Draft while you draft, Unlisted when you're ready to share by link (not indexed), or Public when you want it indexed by search engines and listed in the sitemap.
6. Click Save.

Suggested gear

After saving, add gear from your own library that you personally recommend. These entries are snapshots — editing or deleting them from your library later won't change what participants see.

• Use suggestions for the "nice to have" items, personal favourites, or brand tips.
• Anything required belongs in the template as a placeholder, not here.

Share the link

Copy the public URL from the top of the page and send it wherever your group communicates — email, Signal, a club forum, a printed pamphlet. That's it.

Update after publishing

You can edit the hike page at any time. Changes are live immediately. If you rename the URL slug the old link stops working — try to lock the slug before you share it.

Keep the page tidy while the hike runs

Once the hike has a title, a template and a start date, the detail sections (basics, template, instructions, suggested gear) open collapsed and show a one-line summary. Click a heading to expand it, or use "Expand all" above the sections. Participants, invites and visibility stay open so you can manage your group without scrolling.
