Add gear to your inventory

Your gear inventory is the foundation of every pack. Add each item once, then reuse it across as many packs as you like.

Add an item

1. Go to Gear in the top navigation.
2. Click Add gear.
3. Fill in the required fields:
   • Name (e.g. "Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2")
   • Category (e.g. Shelter)
   • Weight in grams
4. Optionally open Additional details for manufacturer, model, gender sizing, or a personal note.
5. Click Save.

Why grams?

Right Packing always stores weight in grams to avoid rounding drift. The UI will display whatever unit you prefer in your settings.

Tips

• Use the Subcategory to keep long lists organized (e.g. Shelter → Tent vs Shelter → Tarp).
• Add personal notes for things only you would know — "loaner from Anna", "patched in 2024".
